Main Street Mount Pleasant is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of 13 dedicated to stimulating the local economy through downtown development. The organization was started in Mount Pleasant in 2002 and is a Partner of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance. Main Street Mount Pleasant offers a wide variety of programs to directly assist downtown business and building owners including:
Business Assistance
Main Street Mount Pleasant offers a variety of direct assistance to all businesses in the Main Street District including one-on-one counseling, customer surveys, interior design assistance, and training opportunities.
Building Assistance
If you own a building in the Main Street District, you are eligible to receive free design assistance from a licensed architect. You can also apply for funding to complete building improvements through Main Street's Exterior Improvement Grant, Challenge Grant, and our Upper Story Housing funds.
Bringing Customers Downtown
Main Street Mount Pleasant plans a variety of special events each year, designed to bring potential customers downtown. The Easter EGGstravaganza, Great Gobble, Chili Challenge and Trick or Treating on Main, and Holiday on Main are just a few of the annual events organized by Main Street staff members and volunteers. Main Street also organizes the annual Get Punched Holiday Promotion, which encourages people to spend their money in downtown businesses during the Holiday shopping season.
Promoting Your Business
As a Main Street business, you will be listed in Main Street's online directory and printed downtown guide. You can also participate in the MPACA's Get on the Web Program, which offers downtown and Chamber Member Businesses who do not have their own website a free page on our MPACA Website. Main Street also distributes an E-Advertisement called Downtown Deals to over 800 area citizens each month. Main Street Businesses receive four free coupons on this publication each year.
Downtown Deals, a monthly email advertisement to local citizens, highlights special deals in our downtown stores. The E-Advertisement is distributed during the first week of each month to an email list of over 700 people that live and work in the area.
Staying In Touch
As a downtown business owner or manager, you will receive a copy of Main Street's quarterly printed publication called The Lamp Post. This newsletter will help you stay in touch with downtown activities and offers special tips for Main Street businesses.
