Henry County Business Plan Competition

Purpose

The Henry County Business Plan Competition provides seed capital grants of up to $5000 to entrepreneurs interested in starting new businesses in Henry County, and/or who have recently opened businesses and are wishing to expand.

Application Process

Interested parties should submit an application and formal business plan to the Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission (MPADC) by October 1, 2012. Budget projections and/or your business' financial reports and tax statements (existing businesses) for the immediate past three years may be requested.

A Review Committee comprised of Entrepreneurial Committee Members and Staff will select finalists from the applicant pool. Finalists will be asked to present their plans to a Selection Committee comprised of Committee Members and business leaders. The Selection Committee will select award recipients based on the results of the written business plan and personal interview. Award recipients will be recognized and the awards presented during the MPACC's Annual Banquet in January.

Responsibilities of Award Recipient(s)

  • Submit expenses toward the award to MPACC for processing.
  • Present annual business status reports to the MPACC for 3 years including growth/expansion plans.
  • Participate in a minimum of two Continuing Education opportunities (Speaker Seminars, IWC or SCC classes, FastTrac program, etc).
  • Participate in future Award programs by judging entries and/or donating to the Henry County Entrepreneur Award Fund.
