The Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission is a member of the Great River Region Partnership, an economic development collaboration that includes representatives from Henry, Lee, Des Moines, and Louisa Counties. The mission of this partnership is to enhance and promote the economic vitality of The Great River Region by retaining, attracting and creating jobs. The partnership works collaboratively to recruit new businesses, develop entrepreneurs, build and train our workforce, and keep local dollars in our economy through a variety of action teams.
Many companies rely on 'off-shoring' jobs to another country in an effort to boost profits by decreasing overhead and payroll. Off-Shore Iowa offers the stateside alternative to off-shoring. The Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission participates in this innovative collaboration with three other communities in Iowa ' Harlan, Oelwein and Osceola. All four communities are ready to provide an efficient and effective stateside solution for locating back-office operations through technological connectivity, skilled labor and ready facilities to meet the demands of many business operations.
