Finding an Intern

College Interns

Several area colleges offer internship programs for their students. If your business or organization is interested in identifying a student intern, contact Iowa Wesleyan College, Southeastern Community College, or the University of Iowa.

Iowa Student Internship Program

The Iowa Department of Economic Development offers The Iowa Student Internship Program, a program that links college students from Iowa schools to internship opportunities in small and medium sized firms in the biosciences, advanced manufacturing and information technology industries with the goal of transitioning the interns to full-time employment in the state upon graduation. Companies can receive up to $3,100 from this fund to offset the cost of an internship.

Experience Iowa Internship Program

The purpose of this program is to bring University of Iowa students and emerging Iowa businesses together by providing a special opportunity for students to work as paid interns. The program provides a stipend, which covers approximately one-half of the funding for the intern's salary, with the balance provided by the employer. To be eligible, students must be undergraduates of at least sophomore status who are enrolled full-time at the University of Iowa, and who have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
